Sunday, December 4 Bugesera 0-1 Rayon Sports Etincelles 1-0 Gorilla Musanze 3-1 Rwamagana Forward Willy Leandre Onana scored the only goal that made the difference as Rayon Sports beat Bugesera FC 1-0 on Sunday, December 4, in Nyamata to go two points clear at the top of the Rwanda Premier League table. The Cameroon international scored before half time in a tense clash that Bugesera wanted to win and add the blues to a list of top teams that suffered in Bugesera so far this season, having beaten APR 2-1 in October. Francis Haringingo’s men weren’t prepared to lose the second game in a row as they looked to quickly respond and get back to winning ways after their shock 2-0 defeat to Musanze last week. In-form Onana produced an impressive performance which, as a result, saw him net his sixth goal of the season to put the Blues back to the top of the table and remain in control of the title race. Bugesera FC sometimes looked dangerous in the first ten minutes until they had a chance to score but failed to find the back of the net. Rayon Sports, on the other hand, looked less shard but their confidence grew minute after minute until they scored their first and only goal of the game 45th minute to go to the half time in advance. The first half was at a low pace with both teams playing cautiously. Rayon dominated the second half and could have scored at least twice, but their attack was too wasteful before the goal and it’s that Onana goal that ended the match in favor of the visitors. Elsewhere, Musanze FC thumped Rwamagana City 3-1 at Ubworoherane Stadium to jump to fifth place on the league table where they are separated with fourth-placed APR by goal difference. Goals from Wafula Namanda, Ben Ocen and Eric Kanza secured maximum points for the Northern Province-based club as Benson Muhindo netted the consolation goal for Rwamagana. As it stands, Rayon Sports lead the table with 25 points, two ahead of second-placed AS Kigali while Kiyovu sit third with 21 points having played one more game ahead of the top two teams. APR, Musanze and Police are third, fourth and fifth on the table with 20 points each and are only ranked based on goal difference.
