Slang and Teen language

Slang is a kind of language for a specific age group, consisting of very informal words and phrases. Slang is more common in speech than in writing. Teens all over the world have their own slangs, here are some of them The other day I tapped into some “teen jazz” (meaning teen talk, sorry the teen language attacked me too) and these boys were telling one another “man zeyi came to shule and didn’t throw me enough dimes”, one of them talking. With me being a sharp chap of the “dot com era” (modern world) I was able to tell what he meant. Now the merge of these words are straight enough to confuse an adult or any other person who is not familiar with the slang world. Words like zeyi to mean dad, shule to mean school, throw, means give, and dimes is for money. Now again slang hit my face this morning as a friend checked through my phone album, “is this your bird?” she asked after looking at a female shot. I said no, “she’s fly” she answered back” She actually meant is this your girl friend (bird), she’s fly [beautiful]. Taking navigation to the slang world you realize there are slang sites nowadays, an example is slangsite.com, vancouversun.com and many more. Conversely in neighboring countries like Uganda slang is at its peak, bring the Jamaican slang and common greeting “wagwan, watagwan, wat it do, walup, wasup…the list is infinite, all the above mean hi. Even in the USA, UK and Canada, teens use slang. The vancouversun.com site lately revealed the “in and out” teen slang. With new words like Crunk (Crazy plus Drunk), Fiending (Want it bad), Sweet (Cool),Po Po (Cops), 420 (Marijuana) the teens now can confuse the world when they talk. Besides words there common acronyms mostly used by the teens like IDK (I don’t know), OMG (oh my God), LOL (laughing off Lord), TTH (trying too hard),TMI{Too much info}. These are mostly used in text messaging and Facebook. Ends
