“Butcher of Tumba” arrested, released on bail

KIGALI - Sosthène Munyemana, a Genocide fugitive living in France, was arrested Wednesday morning by French authorities but later released on bail, The New Times has learnt. In April 1994, Munyemana, then a prominent gynecologist at the University Hospital in Butare, allegedly participated in various heinous killing sprees that earned him the name “The Butcher of Tumba”.
