The Atlas Lions of Morocco are set to grab one of the two tickets from Group F to the second round of the 2022 World Cup. The North Africans will face Canada at the Al Thumama Stadium on Thursday, December 1, in a game they are expected to win. Morocco already have four points after drawing their first game against Croatia and defeating Belgium 2-0 in the second game. Canada who will be co-hosting the next edition of the Mundial with the US and Mexico lost their opening game 1-0 to Belgium before being hammered 4-1 by Croatia. The North Americans are already out of the competition but will be aiming to at least have some face saving points. Morocco have been at the world cup six times since 1970 but their best performance was in 1986 where they reached the second round after topping a Group involving Portugal, Poland and England. They will be looking forward to equal that record or even go past it. In terms of talents, Morocco have in abundance, the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Achraf Hakimi, El Neysri and others have shown that they can compete with the best in the world. Per performance, so far, Morocco should annihilate Canada but football defies logic and anything is possible. The Atlas Lions could even qualify to the second round of the competition with a draw should the Belgium vs Croatia game end in a draw.
