Rwanda Development Bank (BRD) has donated materials and food stuffs worth Rwf3million to children headed families in Mageragere sector. Jack Kayonga the Managing Director of the development bank said that besides the donation to the orphans of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, they would also act as their mouthpiece to address their needs. “We shall do our best as BRD to continue offering our support in business plan formulation, renovation of the houses and areas,” said Kayonga. The donation was received by 100 families with a total of 68 orphans whose major challenge is feeding. According to Ange Munganyinka, the representative of the orphans, “our biggest challenge is feeding and obtaining minimum required points at school given the condition under which we study.” There are only 5 students at university, 27 in secondary schools and 3 are still in primary school. Lack of jobs for some of them who complete school as well as limited land where to cultivate was still a major challenge to the orphans. For the orphans who have droped out of school, BRD also promised to take them back to school. Ends
