The five East African Community member states are devising a common strategy for peace and security across the regional bloc.As such, debates are ongoing to foster cooperation among member states to curb cross-border crimes.A statement issued by the Directorate of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at the EAC headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, focus will be put mainly on combating illegal drug trafficking, money laundering, cattle rustling and management of refugees and asylum seekers.The regional community has been holding regular meetings of the Police chiefs from all the member states during which participants have formulated appropriate security measures to stamp out criminal activities in the region.EAC is composed of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.Ends
