EASTERN PROVINCE: KAYONZA - For the first time in the history of Kayonza town, roads are under upgrading, an act local leaders say would improve business in the area. Scores of town dwellers appear visibly impressed by this latest development with constant stare at the caterpillars doing the road works. Ronald M. Kimanuka, the area executive secretary says a total of 14 Km road net work would be upgraded. According to Augustin Sibomana, the vice mayor for economic development, the roads are intended to connect quarters and zones that make up Kayonza town in line with the town’s master plan. Sibomana said they would facilitate rapid development. “We have not had good roads linking various quarters and zones to one another, only narrow paths existed. We expect booming business along the new constructed roads,” he said. He said the roads would also ease movement. He noted that school going children among other road users would be the happiest as they say ‘bye-bye to morning –dews’ which have been common along narrow paths in their quarters. Sibomana appealed to vendors who have been congesting along tarmac roads in Kayonza to join quarters and zones and engage in normal business saying clients would not have problems tracing them in their new locations. Vicent Hatangimana, a youth and resident of the area who scooped a casual job with the construction company observed that in addition to providing employment, roads are essential in any business transaction.
