The Minister of Local Government, Jean-Claude Musabyimana, has urged parents in Western Province to fight against stunting in children. Musabyimana said this on November 26 and cited Rubavu District, as one of the districts in Western province with the highest prevalence of stunting in the country. ALSO READ: Governor tasks grassroots leaders to stamp stunting out of Western Province “Let us work together to fight this problem [stunting], learn how to eat a balanced diet, and most importantly use your harvest for better livelihood,” he added. Solange Kayisire, the Minister for Emergency Management (MINEMA) also warned about poor housing in the region and urged residents to move away from high risk areas. “The rainy season is here and we want people to stay away from high risk areas. Put your efforts into taking care of your houses so that when it rains, you stay safe,” Minister Kayisire said.
