Cogebanque Plc and local cycling governing body (Ferwacy) last week signed a three-year partnership extension in a deal that will allow the bank to participate in the upcoming Tour du Rwanda cycling competitions as a Gold Sponsor until 2025. The contract signing was held during the Tour du Rwanda 2023 official presentation held at Canal Olympia. Considered as the biggest UCI cycling event in Africa, the Tour du Rwanda has grown in popularity and scale, attracting more than 2,000,000 spectators worldwide. This permits Cogebanque plc to have access to and interact with several current and prospective stakeholders, inform them about the bank’s products and services, and solicit their feedback on what can be improved to offer them a seamless banking experience. “These synergies will enable us to position our brand exclusively, reach the largest retail market, and advance financial inclusion while supporting the cycling sport as well. Our digital channels and retail market efficiencies will increase significantly,” said Cogebanque chief executive after signing the extension deal Thursday at Canal Olympia. “As part of our contributions to the growth of society and the development of sports, we are enthusiastic to witness cycling's advancement and being perceived as a sport by our society, and we are confident that the cooperation will result in even larger benefits for both parties,” he added. Cogebanque has for about a decade been among Ferwacy’s top partners during Tour du Rwanda and federation boss Abdallah Murenzi is positive that, through the partnership, more can be achieved at both ends while also hailing the banking institution’s contribution to the growth of Tour du Rwanda and Rwandan cycling at large. “The partnership with Cogebanque Plc is a strong milestone for the growth of Tour du Rwanda journey and the cycling development to an extent. This three-year partnership will cement further our flawless collaboration and ultimately pave the way to a new era of cycling with the support of our friends at Cogebanque,” Murenzi said. The bank will be awarding the best climber at the 2023 Tour du Rwanda.
