RWAMAGANA – During a sensitisation meeting on Gender based violence in Rwamagana , parents revealed that a number of children who were subjected to sexual abuse are traumatised. One parent who declined to be named for fear of stigma against her daughter who had been raped by her father said that effects were grave. “This has affected her performance at school and in society,” she said. “She lives under constant fear,”Several children said there is need to come up with sustainable solution to wipe out child abuse. Another child Emlyne Tuyisenge, observed that some parents are unable to recognise cases of trauma among victims of abuse. “It is appalling that some parents fail to report cases of abuse against children,” Tuyisenge pointed out.
