Previously, for one to acquire the tax clearance certificate, one had to wait for two good weeks before acquiring it. Though the certificate is vital in all business transactions, it would take Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) two weeks to process and issue it to taxpayers, partly because of the lengthy process. Four RRA officials had to sign on the form. In addition, the tendency of some files going missing was a common.Now, only one person and the software handle the processing of the certificate which has been updated to speed-up the clearance process. To further quicken the certificate issuance exercise, RRA will take the responsibility of contacting applicants to all dossiers that will appear incomplete by phone.Thanks to RRA that has reduced the time of issuing the tax clearance certificate from two weeks to two days.
