HUYE – After completing a training on artificial insemination, 29 vets from the Southern province confronted the organizers and provincial authorities over delays in salaries. The training, that was organised by the Rwanda Animal Resources Development Authority (RARDA), the Rwanda Agricultural Research Institute (ISAR) and the Southern Province saw the participants urge authorities to provide equipment and timely payment of salaries. According to one of the vets, Innocent Nyandwi from Rwaniro sector in Huye district the delays and the lack of equipment has affected their performance. “Many of our colleagues have seen their contracts run out without being paid,” Nyandwi said. “We want to be paid on time because these delays affect our work.” Southern Province Governor, Fidel Ndayisaba promised to look into the issues. “We will work on solving contract issues, equipment and put up a mechanism for smooth payment of salaries,” he said.
