He joined the music industry with a matchless touch. DMS is one of Rwanda’s celebrated Hip hop artists. The New Times’ EMMA PRINCE talked with him about his music career and what had kept him so quiet. Tell us about yourself? I’m a guy with a simple profile. I respect my life and my music career. You been silent for sometime, what have you been up to? I’ve been quite busy, working on my new 14 track album, ‘Life and Love’. I’m also kept busy by work in my office sometimes. DMS will not quit the game. Are you still a member to TFP crew? Sure, two songs off the album are from The Feature Production (TFP). The crew is helping me on this upcoming album. I’ve worked with many other producers as well. How did you grasp such a deal? Double G (American producer) came to town searching for talent. He chose me having liked my flow and my language (English). He is the guy that introduced me to Day one. What about your beef with rapper K8 Kavuyo? How did it go? I have nothing against K8. When I released the song ‘Barihehe’ which was not beef, he then sent me a text in Lumumbashi calling for a beef flow to pull the public. I expected lyrics like ‘DMS’s got na bucks’ or ‘D you ain’t rapper’ ,but was disappointed when he just insulted me. I still take him as my young brother though. What about your relationship with singer Shanel? No man. She is just a good friend. We made a song together and we often party but not as lovers. Ends
