NYABIHU – The Seventh Day Adventist Church has appealed to its followers to support residents who were ejected from the Gishwati forest land. About 248 families who were resettled at Kijote cell of Bigogwe sector after eviction still lack shelter. Pastor Jean Bizimungu, the head of Ruhengeri Adventist Church said members from churches in Musanze district have already contributed over Rwf300,000 to help the evictees. “Christians bear an obligation to help people in need, feed the hungry and care for the sick,’’ Pastor Bizimungu said. Pastor Jonas Matabaro, of the Restoration Church in Musanze, said that after church leaders visited the relocated people, they committed to mobilising church members to contribute to the cause. Government gave a go ahead to evacuate people settled in Gishwati forest in order to avert environmental degradation. The government gave out Iron sheets and bricks to the evictees who are expected to participate in building their own houses. Ends
