Farmers devastated as floods destroy crops

HUYE – Following the weekend heavy rains, Mwogo River flooded and over flowed into maize plantations in the surrounding marshland and Kigoma sector destroying several hectares of Maize plantations. Farmers who talked to The New Times said that they were distraught because the seeds which they had planted on the consolidated marshland were acquired on credit from local farmers’ cooperatives.
