Cross generational sex can be defined as sexual relationships between adults and partners who are young enough to be their children or grandchildren. This is an issue that has been addressed by several people at different occasions and the results can never be assessed against their accomplishment. A very big number of young girls and boys in Africa have been infected with the HIV virus but the ill has not stopped even at this stage. Research has been carried out by scholars to find out what could possibly be the causes of this act in society. Younger girls have been sighted on the streets, in bars, hotels cuddling their sugar daddies with no shame whatsoever because this seems to be the trend of their times. According to a report by Masimbi Birwasa, girls appear to have power to negotiate relationship formation and continuance where they can choose the types and number of partners they have and can discontinue a relationship if gift giving ceases. The too much love for the endless free gifts from the sugar daddies and mummies is the key cause of cross generation sex among the young people. The need for extra standards accessories has driven so many young girls into hooking themselves potential men that can provide for them such goods at the expense of their lives. The causes of cross generation sex are the same all around the world in the west and in the central even the in the south. Where once in a sexual relationship a girl has no control over sexual intercourse and can neither suggest the use of condoms or any other form of contraceptives to prevent the spread of HIV the man on the other side has full responsibility of what happens. Girls believe that when they suggest the use of condoms they are definitely jeopardizing their ego of getting their expected monetary gains thus they end up succumbing to their master’s say. The Rwandan government has embarked on the anti cross generation sex campaign and together with the Ministry of Youth and Culture, has sensitized the youth about the evils of cross generation and advised them to stay away from sugar mummies and daddies because they are most likely to infect them with HIV and AIDS.
