Exactly who is Medard Ngabo? Medard Ngabo, known by his stage name Meddy, is among Rwanda’s hottest singers. He performs his own compositions, and he is also a dancer. To look at Meddy anyone would be very surprised to learn that this dynamic and young dude is famous in the country and a favourite for many people of all stature and age groups, especially music lovers. He exudes the energy of a teenager in music, and he is not proud or arrogant despite the fact that he is famous and intelligent. In other words, he is the description of a down-to-earth character. Meddy, does not have the luxury of your average rich artists in the region, he keeps a low profile. He is one of those youthful artists, who exemplify what it is to be a modern and successful musician of the millennium. He is a wonderful artist, terrific and sociable. He has dedicated his youthful time to music, and he is working harder to give his fans the best music they deserve. The former student of La Colombière, who is now waiting to enrol at Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) next year, Meddy has an extraordinary talent, and he is among the artists who are riding the wave of the Rwanda’s music industry. He has always been interested in music, and he started singing at the tender age of six—he cites his mother, a guitarist, as his inspiration. Initially, Meddy was a gospel singer, but later switched his career to secular music. He is now famous for his R&B style, and came to fame in 2008 after the release of his ‘Amayobera’ song. His music has dominated local radio stations, and is often played in discotheques and on informal ceremonies. Meddy has been honoured to perform in several significant occasions, including the ‘Guma Guma” Tennis Tournament finals in Gisenyi, launch of “Turbo King”, and Miss East Africa Rwanda Chapter grand finals at Kigali Serena hotel. Unfortunately, the star says that he is not intending to stage any other concert until December 24, when he will be launching his ‘Amayobera’ album.
