This would also help elevate the country’s football standards but we hope to come up with a fine and concrete decision before the end of this week,” Kirabo said.Once the Cup has been confirmed to be annual, the tournament will have to change its name since it had dubbed Centenary Cup to mark the Kigali City 100 years of existence.Rayon Sport won the Centenary Cup trophy after crushing Mukura 3-0 in Sunday’s final which was staged at Amahoro stadium. The Blues pocketed Frw. 10 million in cash prize while Mukura settled for Frw. 5 million.Rayon’s 20-year old midfielder Aphrodise Hategikimana scored a brace while ex-APR striker Jean Lomami dribbled past Mukura defenders to score the third goal for the blues.In the third place battle, Atraco overpowered APR on penalties to win the third position. The game ended in a one-all draw with both teams settling for penalties. Atraco won 4-3 against APR.APR’s Elias Uzamukunda scored the first goal before half time after he dribbled past the taxi-men defenders as well as the custodian Eric Ndayiragije. However, both players were sent off in the dying minutes of the game in the controversial move taken by the centre referee, Jean Gashuhwe. APR’s Aloua Gaseruka was also sent off in the second half of the game after an intended ankle-tackle on Atraco’s Peter Kagabo.Michel Sebalinga scored the equalizer for the taxi-men club through a brilliant free kick which left Ramazan Nkuzingoma mystified.Atraco and APR pocketed Frw. 2.5 million and 1.25 million for the third and fourth positions respectively.The lucrative Centenary Cup tournament was organized by the Kigali City and the local football governing body, Ferwafa to commemorate the city’s 100 years of existence.
