Build private -public partnership, Governor tells district leaders

MUSANZE - The Governor of the Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe has challenged district leaders to engage the private sector and civil society organisations as strong partners in development. The governor was on monday addressing a consultative meeting which convened to discuss the district development plans. Participants included members of the Private Sector, business community, those in the tourism industry and entrepreneurs of agro-related business. Bosenibamwe, noted that economic revolution requires all authorities from different sectors to understand the underlying causes of poverty and appreciate that development starts from the grassroots. “We are faced with a challenge to narrow the gap between imports and exports and this requires a new way of thinking and working,’’ the governor said. In his presentation on the district economic development, Mayor, Celestin Kalabayinga said there is need to put more effort in the development of districts’ economic pillars which are agriculture and industry. During the the workshop, a long heated debate on the current economic trends, the quality of services from different sectors took centre stage. The meeting resolved that the District Action Forum should assess the possible investment opportunities before a joint business venture starts. Ends
