Rwanda targeting to join CHOGM Rwanda is knocking at the door to be admitted to the CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting) member states. Meanwhile, Malta hosted CHOGM in November 2005, and this year, it’s Uganda hosting the Summit. The event which takes place at least every after two years brings together all member states from the former colonies of the Great Britain, and some from former colonies of French and Portuguese, like Cameroon and Mozambique respectively. According to our scouts, the said-to-be meeting will definitely benefit member states, and it will be attended by great thinkers and politicians. During this significant course of time, politicians and economists will brainstorm on development and security matters. Meanwhile, the Commonwealth Youth Forum which is expected to run for seven days, opened on 14th November at the Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel, Entebbe. Its theme is “Breaking barriers; unleashing young people’s potential for development.” Rwanda applied recently to join this famous alliance. Watch this space for Rwanda’s accession, no matter how long it takes. Kigali’s hottest couple It is said that love is blind. Probably yes. The talk of the town is one of Rwanda’s renowned Radio Presenter and artist, Kakooza Nkuliza Charles, a.k.a (KNC), has finally landed his heart’s desire, after a lonely life. This queen is a 23-year-old kyana, is working class too. The duo has been spotted in some of Kigali’s hottest hangouts, sharing romantic moments of their dating time. And according to our scouts, the couple is very serious in relationship, and soon or later, KNC may be heading to the girl’s parents to negotiate terms. Darfur Genocide real - Simpson It’s a pity that some countries and particular groups of individuals in the world are still denying that what happened in Rwanda during the 1994 was not Genocide, but rather ordinary killings. And it’s upon their selfish interests that they have decided to spread Genocide ideologies across the world. These wicked politicians are deliberately spreading their evil spirits, which is going on world over like bush fire. As a result, many people are continuously losing their lives at the expense of those who want to develop or save their positions in the government. In Rwanda only, 1million people lost their lives in the course of only 100days, and in Darfur, at least more than hundreds of people die everyday. In his comment, John Simpson, a British journalist who currently holds the most senior role of World Affairs Editor for BBC News, wondered whether the world has not yet learnt a big lesson from what happened in Rwanda. He continues to wonder whether Hotel Rwanda has been successful at the post office. It takes more than shaking our heads over old television pictures of piles of bodies to make sure that these terrible crimes aren’t repeated. Governments will never take enthusiastic action unless they think we really care about these things. John concludes saying, history teaches us that human nature is bleak, hard and cold. We are genetically programmed to try and secure the survival/ pre-eminence of our own tribe, by whatever means necessary. That is why people will never stop killing and it is the duty of the UN to intervene to prevent human tragedy happening in places such as Darfur. Ends
