WILDLIFE DISCOVERY

Eagles are large and strong birds of prey. What is interesting about these birds is that they fly fast and high as they float in the sky. This is called soaring. They also have long and powerful wings which help them to fly for long distances while carrying prey that is half their body weight. These strong birds have extremely good eye vision that enables them to spot small creatures for prey. Imagine they can see rats, chicks and birds on the ground from the sky. Since they can see at a distance, their good eyesight makes them have very large pupils in their eyes. Eagles are predators and kill to eat! In fact, they are the second largest birds of prey after the vultures. On their heavy and big heads, are very large and powerful hooked beaks. These are for tearing flesh off their prey. Their legs are strong with hooked nails that help them to carry the prey without falling. Eagles live in nests. Their nests are called eynes. They like building their nests in tall trees. Like all other birds eagles lay eggs. They normally lay two eggs. Another interesting thing about these birds is that they learn their predatory skills when they are still babies. When the eggs hatch, the older and larger baby eagle that hatched first kills the other one that delayed to hatch! This is why they are called the kings and of the air. Ends
