Uganda Air Cargo Corporation (UACC) is planning to fly into Rwanda after acquiring two passenger charter planes, which will be unveiled next week. A statement from the carrier company said that Rwanda will be part of it’s destinations that include Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Somalia among other African countries. However Director General of the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Richard Masozera said that he is not aware of UACC’s plans though it is possible that they plan to fly into Rwanda. “We have no objections to their plans but only if they meet the conditions required here,” he said. The launch is slated for October 15th and the inaugural flight will be destined for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, the region’s largest and busiest airport. Dates for flights into Rwanda are however unknown. According to the statement, the diversity in UACC, which was part of the defunct Uganda Airlines, is expected to make the charter services fit into the current competitive air industry in pursuit for the region’s air travellers. Uganda Air Cargo joins other privately owned charter planes with bases in Uganda which ply both domestic and international airports. They include Eagle Air and Bukasa among others. Management says in the statement that two planes will provide the convenience and comfort of air charter for passengers. These include diplomatic travel services, VIP Charters, medical evacuation, Humanitarian flights and aerial surveys. Uganda Air Cargo has been in the air transport business for the 15 years initially specialising in air cargo services. Ends
