Rwanda Revenue Authority to issue certificates in two days

Rwanda Revenue Authority (RAA) has reduced the time of issuing the tax clearance certificate, commonly known as attestation de non créance from one week to two days. The certificate is issued by RRA to a taxpayer to certify that a taxpayer owes no tax debt. Though the certificate is vital in all business transactions, it would take RRA two weeks to process and issue it to taxpayers, partly because of the lengthy process. RRA taxpayer service department had to reduce the delay as part RRA’s moto: “Your business growth is RRA concern: we commit to give you quality and courteous services.” Previously four RAA officials would sign on the form but now only one person and the software to handle the processing of the certificate has been updated to speed-up the clearance process. “In additional, tendencies of some files missing will be eliminated since the application dossier is handled from one office,” statement from RAA taxpayers’ service department reads in part. To further quicken the certificate issuance exercise, RRA will take the responsibility of contacting applicants to all dossiers that will appear incomplete by phone. And in another development, taxpayers in need of changing their motor vehicle ownership will have to first clear from the motor vehicle department before applying for ANC. Ends
