Tusker Project Fame: Rwandan receives overwhelming support

Rwanda’s sensational singer Alpha Rwirangira, last night got overwhelming public support to remain in the running in reality show “Tusker Project Fame” music academy. Alpha, 23, is the only remaining Rwandan representative in the competition, an initiative by East African Breweries Limited aimed at promoting budding new talent in the region. Performing Shamba, a song by Burundian Jean Pierre Nimbona alias Kidumu, the young musician moved the audience with his unique voice driving original author Kidumu to tears. “As he performed, I could see myself in him. That is a spiritual song and I think Alpha is good. I support him,” an emotional Kidumu told the audience. According to one of the judges of the contest, Juliana Kanyomozi, the presence of the Burundian singer could have in a way given Alpha more reason to sing better than he had done last week. “I was scared by the fact that Kidumu was present. He has done the song before and has a great voice. I am glad that I did it well,” Alpha said with a smile. Meanwhile, Kenya’s Debarl Clement Inea was evicted from the Academy after losing out on the contestants’ vote.This week, Alpha, Debarl, Caroline and Ng’anga were on probation. With six contestants left in the Academy, the competition gets tougher but every vote counts for anyone up for eviction. This is the first time Rwanda is participating in the regional contest which initially had representatives from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda only. Ends
