THE Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) has left regional teams frustrated after calling off the CAR women sevens annual competition. Rwanda’s national women side, Blackbacks was one of five times scheduled to compete in the tournament which had been scheduled for this weekend in Kampala, Uganda. Blackbacks head Coach Jean de la Paix Hategekimana yesterday confirmed to this paper that the tournament sponsors(CAR) had suspended the event for a second time due to lack of resources. “The tournament has been called off and it’s very frustrating for the team. They girls have been training hard for the tournament,” a disappointed Hategekimana said. In the wake of the developments, the local rugby federation is organising a friendly match with Uganda. The federation’s Secretary General Janvier Ugeziwe revealed that Rwanda is planning to host Uganda sometime next month. Ends
