KARONGI – Hoteliers in Karongi District were yesterday urged to acquire better management skills so as to deliver quality services to their customers. Jean Claude Uwizeyemungu, an official from the Centre for Skills Development (CSD), a local capacity building organisation, made the remarks during a meeting that brought together hotel owners, managers and local leaders. Uwizeyemungu called upon the hotel and restaurant operators to build their businesses basing on customer loyalty and advised them to build the capacity of their workers. The Mayor, Bernard Kayumba, promised the district’s support towards boosting the competitiveness of the hotels. “The district has provided a communication centre where information about your services to the general public can be quickly and easily disseminated,” he said. In the meeting it was revealed that Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has warned that it would in November close down hotels which do not meet the minimum standard requirements for the industry. Ends
