Atraco in massive swoop

APR’s Djabir expected to sign today CECAFA and MTN Peace Cup champions Atraco yesterday signaled their intentions for the new league campaign after confirming the signings of five new players, Times Sport can exclusively reveal. With their main rivals; APR and Rayon Sport already confirming their new recruits, Atraco also confirmed yesterday the signing of Kampala City Council (KCC) midfielder Ronald Kamoga, Uganda Police striker Peter Ssenyonjo, SC Villa pair of Simeon Masaba and goalkeeper Hannington Kalyesubula as well as Mukura winger Dadi Birori. Experienced Kalyesubula has been brought to the taxi-men side to replace Jean Luc Ndayishimiye alias Bakame, who crossed to the national league champions APR. On top of their first choice keeper, the 2008 league champions have also lost two key outfield players Peter Kagabo (striker) and Charles Kawuma (defender) to Rayon Sport. The Ugandan quartet will join their compatriots, who include; Johnson Bagoole, Godfrey Kateregga, Alimansi Kadogo and Michel Sebalinga. Atraco’s vice president Issa Ngeze also confirmed that the club was on the verge of sealing a deal for APR’s winger Djabir Mutarambirwa.“We still need to add three more players to the ones that have already joined the club. But they will be local players.We have already agreed terms with Djabir and the deal should be finalised by tomorrow (today),” Ngeze said. Meanwhile, Hamis Kitagenda, Andre Lomami, Shyaka Jean have all penned new deals with the club after their contracts expired last month. Atraco almost won a sensational treble last season but were piped to the league trophy by APR on the last day of the league season on goal difference after a stalemate with minnows Marines. The taxi-men later won a double of Cecafa/Kagame Cup and MTN Peace Cup and will represent Rwanda at next year’s Africa Confederations Cup. Ends
