Rwanda Development Bank (BRD) has boosted this year’s edition of Coupe du Rwanda that is scheduled to start this morning at National University of Rwanda with Rwf 1m. The Executive Secretary of the National Volleyball federation (FRVB) Gertrude Kubwimana said the bank’s timely contribution would go a long way in making the tournament a success. “We are very pleased with BRD’s contribution towards the success of this event. Although we had a budget of Rwf 5m, we shall have to improvise with what we have (Magerwa have also contributed Rwf.1m)” Kubwimana said. Preliminaries and semi-finals will be jointly hosted by the National University of Rwanda (UNR) and Groupe Scolaire de Butare today and tomorrow with the finals set for next Sunday in Kigali. This year’s event is also open to provincial clubs.Last year, APR reigned supreme after thrashing Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) in straight sets (3-0). Their female counterparts also flourished after overpowering Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) 3-1 in the final. Ends
