THROUGH PICTURES: Inside one and only Hindu Temple in Rwanda

Located at Rebero mount, Kigarama Sector, Kicukiro District in Kigali City, Hindu Sanatan Dharam Temple is the only one of this kind in Rwanda. Inaugurated in 2O19, the temple serves as the Hindu's first place of worship in the country and is also used as a hall for their community gatherings. According to the Indian Community in Rwanda, due to Rwanda’s political ideology of unity, the Indians have decided to have one temple of worship, regardless their differing belief backgrounds. All over the world, the Indians ensure to belong to different communities as a way of staying connected to their beliefs. They are known for loyal reverence for their cultures and traditions, despite their different ethnicities and religions. The New Times' Photographer Craish Bahizi visited the temple during Maha Vivah, an evening of spirits, music, and dance to celebrate the union of Indian families and friends. The ceremony, which is the second biggest celebration of Hindus, marks the beginning of the wedding season among believers. Through a colorful event, the photographer chronicled the ceremony and brought different pictures highlighting the beauty of the temple and the enrolling of the Maha Vivah.
