The private sector will help make this country work better!

Editor, I cheer Rwanda for emerging as the top African reformer in setting up a favorable business environment. Without doubt, Joe Ritchie, the CEO of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and his entire deputy CEO’s have done what Rwandans expected of them. This achievement will make a number of firms now see Rwanda as a land of opportunity. However, to maintain this momentum much still needs to be done since a large portion of our country’s economy is still in the hands of informal entrepreneurs, who have a low level of education and an inadequate amount of capital. Making it hard for them to survive in a sustainable manner. The scourge of HIV/AIDS also remains a real challenge since it too has an impact on development it depletes households. It’s my hope that the remaining challenges will be sorted out by emphasising different set of skills among small entrepreneurs, advocating for creativity, changing mindset of consumers and creating stronger working relationship between private sector, government, and non-governmental organizations in order to improve business conditions in our country.
