LEAGUE defending champions APR have confirmed Jean Luc Ndayishimiye ‘Bakame’ (pic) as their latest signing. The Amavubi second choice goal-keeper crossed over from bitter-rivals in what is believed to be a two-year contract. According to APR’s president Brig. Gen. Alex Kagame, the move was completed on Wednesday. “Bakame is now our player and we know that he will do well for us,” Kagame said. Kagame however hesitated to clarify the terms of the contract. Bakame replaces Aime Ndanda Ndizeye, who was released last month. The ex-Burundi International is one of six players to be off-loaded from the military side. The others include Masudi Kaka, Christian Uwumukiza, Eric Serugaba, Basile Bazibuhe and Kimalwa Mwembu. Kagame has also confirmed that the club plans to make more signings ahead of what he described as a demanding season. “With a crowded season ahead of us, we need a big squad so we still hope to make more signings,” he noted. Last season, APR lifted their tenth league title after piping Atraco on the final day of the league. The win denied Sam Timbe’s side what would have been an exciting treble after winning the 2009 Cecafa Club Championships and MTN Amahoro Cup. Ends
