NYAMASHEKE – Gaspard Ngoga, the owner of the boat that last Sunday capsized on Lake Kivu, has been arrested and detained at Kagano Police Station in Nyamasheke District. Police said Ngoga was arrested in Nyanza District in the Southern Province, on Tuesday, following intelligence reports on his where-about. He was immediately driven back to Nyamasheke where he will be prosecuted. Three people were killed, while 40 others sustained injuries after Ngoga’s boat capsized with over 100 passengers on board. The police say Ngoga, was not a registered member among the lakes transporters on Lake Kivu and had not even provided life jackets for his passengers. Ends
