Joeboy’s last performance in Kigali two years ago left music enthusiasts begging for more. The Nigerian musician had since noted that he had unfinished business with Kigalians and vowed to one day come back and give them another show. The countdown is now on after local event management pioneers, East African Promoters (EAP), announced the music star’s comeback to the Kigali stage ahead of the 2022 Kigali Fiesta mega show slated December 3 at BK Arena. The 25-year-old, born Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa, was initially expected to perform at the Kigali Fiesta Live Concert as the main act in July but organisers eventually postponed it to buy more time to organise it. It wasn’t good news for his music supporters to hear but organisers kept their word when they eventually contracted him as the headliner for the rescheduled concert. A yet-to-be confirmed lineup of local artistes will be performing alongside the singer whose music continues to dominate the charts in Africa. “We have more performers that we will announce very soon,” Joseph Mushyoma, the brains behind the concert, told The New Times. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Joeboy rose to fame in 2019, under the tutelage of Mr Eazi, through his label emPawa Africa, with the release of his single ‘Faaji’. Ever since, the Afro pop and RnB singer has dropped numerous hits which have earned him the ‘Best Artiste Duo or Group in African Pop’ plaque at the 2019 AFRIMA awards and Soundcity MVP Awards Festival in 2020. Joeboy’s two years in music since he last performed in Kigali have been quite a ride. He came for the Kigali Jazz Junction as a kid in the game, but now he is coming back as an African music star in the making, with his music now speaking for him. Tracks like ‘Sip’, ‘Show Me’, ‘Focus’, ‘Baby’ and ‘Like Riddim’ are part of the singer’s big package that he is bringing on stage ahead of Kigali's mega show.
