Editor, On Friday July 31st, at about 9:20 p.m., my friend and I were walking to a bus stop on a main road in Kiyovu when we noticed two men following us. They were keeping pace with us about two steps behind. I turned round to look at them and turned back tightening my grip on my bag; my friend did the same thing. Just after turning our heads back to continue walking, they grabbed our necks and dragged us to the ground. I was pulled backwards by my neck into the bushes. We struggled with both of them while trying to get their arms off of our necks. At some point, the guy who was attacking my friend, must have realized that he was in plain sight on the sidewalk and let go of her and took off, taking her wallet with him. The guy that had me also let go of my neck and grabbed my bag off my shoulder; I struggled with him and eventually the bag strap broke and he took off with it and its contents (cell phone, camera, keys, flash disk, and day planner). We reported our case to police in Kacyiru but the police appeared not interested in finding out who attackers are. Can someone do something about these thugs? Concerned teacher
