House helps are important, respect them

The life of a house help, also known as a nanny and mostly referred to as a house girl/ boy, tells a story of its own. At times they are praised as important in a home and at the same time vilified for one reason or the other. Although they mean a lot to some families, others have decided to do away with them all together. They do the cooking, washing, house cleaning and so much more. They even to a certain point act as the property care takers or should we say watchmen/women when the family members are out at work, school or visiting. In most cases, the failure of house helps to perform their duties creates tension or chaos in homes, this failure or the resultant chaos is in most cases a result of their bosses’ own weaknesses. Like in any other responsibility, a request from a boss means a lot. It could determine whether one retains his or her job. This is regardless of whether it has negative effects or not.So with such knowledge, when a husband turns to a house maid for sexual gratification, or the wife does such with the “house boy”, usually there is no way out for the servant if they still want to retain their jobs. Such is real life although it may be shameful. It is for that case therefore, that the cause should be realized and uprooted, so that families can live in harmony. It is right and clear that maids are meant to work at home, but there is work that should only be done by either the wife or the husband, except under certain circumstances that may not be usual. Joyce, who says she does not need a house help be it a boy or a girl. She says that in any case, a husband or wife should never fall in love with a house help. “It is mostly because of one’s mentality and greed that one fails to stand by the vows of marriage as wife and husband”. She explained that preparing meals, making sure water for bathing is warm and other related responsibilities can never lead to feelings of attraction. Jim, a married man, said that a housemaid has no effect on his family. He argues that a maid is regarded as part of the family, given the responsibilities she takes on. Therefore, he considers her as a daughter and what he shares with her is what he exactly does for his daughter. “I cannot be sexually attracted to a maid since I consider her as my daughter,” he says, explaining that for one to be attracted to a maid, it means such a person has given the maid the chance to do so. He emphasized on the way of interaction and its concerns saying that “communication with the maid should be with a reason. It should have a genuine cause, although this does not restrict communication at home,” he said. Attractive or not, maids should be regarded as people with rights and should be accorded their respect and not be subjected to humiliation. Ends
