Marines FC's poor form in the 2022/23 Rwanda Premier League continued on Wednesday, November 9, as they lost 2-1 at home to Gasogi United in a rescheduled week 6 fixture. It took just a minute for Kevin Ishimwe to punish the home side at the Umuganda Stadium in Gisenyi with a sublime finish. The early goal unsettled Marines FC as they had to chase the game. Both teams created fewer chances until the break though Gasogi United with the likes of Kaneza Augustine and Theodore Malipangu looked more purposeful upfront. The first half ended with Gasogi leading Marines FC 1-0. Gasogi opened fire on Marines FC again in the second half and netted their second goal in the 46th minute through Theodore Malipangu. In order to avoid more goals, Marines FC decided to soak the pressure and hit Gasogi on the counter. Marines reduced the deficit in the 63rd minute through a goal from Nkundimana Avit to make it 2-1. Marines FC pushed more men in attack in search of the equalizer but Gasogi held their at the back until the referee blew his whistle for the end of the game Marines FC are bottom of the league table with just two points from seven games.
