How disgusting can men get? How on earth can a man who has repeatedly defiled his own three year old daughter think that he doesn’t deserve a death sentence? On the news yesterday, 52 year old Gabriel Habimana, who has been accused of multiple defilement of his 3-year old daughter, had the balls to think that he should elude justice by using misunderstandings with his wife as excuses. It is annoying, very annoying indeed that such a case can even be considered as an appeal at the high court. I totally agree with Augustine Nkusi who feels that such men should commit suicide due to their shameful deeds. I don’t understand how a man gets attracted to a 3 year old girl, who is barely out of using diapers. Is there is some degree of insanity in this people? The saddest thing is that we all think that these are just cursed fellows and that this can not be found in our own families. Are you are certain there has never been a child molester or a molested child in your family? Sadly most of the children never say anything because they are embarrassed this happened to them in the first place. Fear is instilled in them and they protect their abusers because he or she is part of their family. Though I’m not a Muslim, I sometimes support their Sharia law whereby a thief’s hand is chopped off to prevent him from ever doing it again. The child molester should have his manhood chopped off, in turn. I know human right activist will always have something to say; for example, that we should dig deep down and find the root cause of these peoples action. But hey is it our fault that they are drug addicts or insane? Rape is rape. There is no excuse to it. Some guy in upcountry made headlines last week by killing two infants, raping and killing a 16 year old as well and claimed to be demon possessed. What a sick joke. He has to face justice. Meanwhile the ‘demons’ can be cast out while he is in jail. Now, if we are to stop these deeds together we have to speak the same language. To help prevent child molestation from happening to the children closest to you, begin by telling others the basic facts. Parents should always create a close relationship with their children. In that way, they may be able to confide in you. The author is a journalist, The New Times
