RUSIZI - Police in Kamembe in Rusizi District are hunting for a Kobil Petrol Station worker at Rusizi 1 border, Jean Pierre Nkurunziza ,who allegedly vanished with Rwf4m belonging to the oil company. Nkurunziza was a pump attendant. It is reported that he had waited for his colleagues to go for lunch before disappearing. “We thought that he had gone for lunch as usual but later it was found out that the safe was completely empty yet we had sold fuel worth Rwf4m on that day. We immediately reported the matter to the nearby security organs,” a worker at the station told The New Times on condition of anonymity. Police confirmed that they have received the report of the theft from the station’s manager, Marie Louise Nyirangwabije, who has apparently been arrested in connection with the case. Speaking from Kamembe Police post, Nyirangwabije denied any involvement in the theft. Nkurunziza had worked at the station for about a year. Security officials in the area suspect that he may have fled to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or Burundi. Ends
