LOCAL federations have failed to find the right athletes for next year’s Inaugural Youth Olympic Games which will be staged in Singapore. The three federations; boxing, swimming and athletes are said to have been offered wild cards from the International Olympics Committee (IOC) but according to recent reports, they have failed to name able athletes for the games. Sources close to the federations said that the federations had been set a submission deadline of August 15 but that none has responded by press time. After the federations submit the names, IOC with the help of a tripartite commission will decide whether to go on and give or deny the wild cards to the named athletes. Apart from the swimmers, Rwanda’s boxers and athletes will have to go through qualification phases before competing in Singapore. The Games, which are expected to attract over 3,594 athletes, will run from August 14-26. The athletes will compete in 26 sporting disciplines and the program for the games I said to be similar to that of the 2012 London Games. Ends
