…play ear-busting loud music on lousy speakers. Have you been to the Nyabugogo taxi park lately? There are some crazy fools who put loud speakers just outside their shops and play very loud music the whole day. The pain in all this is that the speakers are of really very poor quality with no balance between bass and treble leaving a tear-jerking excuse for sound. How do they expect us to buy their music cassettes (yes they still sell those outdated things) yet they sound so bad even before they leave the shop? …refuse to do what they are supposed to do even for money. I sometimes use taxi motorcycles commonly referred to as ‘moto’ here in Kigali but I am really getting sick and tired of some of the arrogant motorcyclists. Some of them refuse to go to certain directions even when they seem to still be available and on duty. The fellow comes rushing towards you and when you tell them that you are heading to Kanombe or Kacyiru they simply replies, “I am not going that side.” I think their licences should be revoked for they are not ready to provide the services we are ready to pay for. Do they think they are also taxis and have designated destinations like Remera-Naybugogo? …remain silent during meetings but grumble soon after. For some reason, these part time thinkers seem to be so many and everywhere. They duly arrive for a meeting and when it starts they simply sit and shut up the whole time. They do not present any arguments to oppose or even support what is said. They simply sit and wait like retired hunting dogs. As soon as the meeting is closed, they move outside, form small groups and start complaining about all the issues tabled in the meeting. Why do you open your mouth at the wrong time and expect to be heard? Stay silent and go home. If you failed to speak your mind you do not deserve an ear as well. And please don’t come for the meeting next time. …totally fail to maintain a decent level of hygiene. Last week I was in a taxi and then a crippled man entered with his crutches. However it was easier to notice his filth and nose-pinching odour than the missing limb. At this point all the empathy I had for him begun diminishing at a very fast rate. Yes, he might be disabled but he should at least have a sense of basic hygiene especially if he expects to be sharing public transport with other ordinary water-loving people like the Hater. Unless of course this is all part of his strategy to draw sympathy in case he chooses to go begging. I however really doubt this would yield anything since the bad smell only serves to drive away people. …eat boiled eggs or groundnuts while using public transport. Let me end by continuing my hatred for those who eat while in a taxi. I hate even more, those who eat boiled eggs for example, leaving a troubling aroma to engulf the whole vehicle yet we are not all sharing in the meal. And by the way such foods often lead you to a point of farting in the taxi. Damn! How disgusting can some of you be? Why do you import your lousy appetite and manners to inconvenience other decent and not so hungry travellers? If you sit next to me I will beat you up and report both of us to police!
