AFRICOM to fight rape US military Command for Africa (AFRICOM) will deploy a team of specialists to the DR Congo’s South and North Kivu Provinces as part of efforts to battle a rape-rampage by the FDLR insurgents. The mission to be on the ground in the coming weeks will assist thousands of women who have been raped in the war-torn eastern region, where attackers often are members the Congolese military. AFRICOM will be sending medical and other experts to conduct an assessment of the country’s many needs, according to US military online news service ‘Stars and Stripes. Rural programmes workshop held The Ministry of Agriculture recently held a 4-day meeting aimed at providing an overview on agricultural financial services, and how these may be put into the Rwandan context The meeting held in conjunction with Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC-CTB) is also aimed at seeking ways of disseminating information regarding how agricultural financial services can be accessed. It also aimed at identifying specific services/products that could be developed in Rwanda among others. INMR to avail culture roots to tourist The Institute of National Museums of Rwanda is planning to start furnishing tourists visiting Museums in Rwanda with a package of Rwanda culture during their visits. This was said by the Minister of Sports and Culture, Joseph Habineza during the launching of Rwanda’s cultural heritage book which talks about Rwanda’s past and present. Tourists will be treated to different traditional proverbs, dressings, dancing and tales from the past. Ends
