The chairpersons of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) in four provinces and the City of Kigali were elected by party members in elections that took place across the country on Saturday and Sunday. Samuel Dusengiyumva was elected chairperson of RPF-Inkotanyi in the City of Kigali. Dusengiyumva, also serves as the Mayor of the City of Kigali, was voted by 86 per cent of the party members who participated in the election on Sunday. We have to address depression and mental health issues, which have been on the rise. Citizens must participate in decision-making to guide our work, Dusengiyumva said. He also mentioned that the city will have more eco-tourism parks, roads, and real estate developed in the next five years. Kayitesi is also the Governor of this province. Pudence Rubingisa was elected RPF chairperson in Eastern Province, where he also serves as governor. I want to start with training members so that all those elected, from the grassroots level to the district level, can be fully engaged. The goal is for everyone to take on their responsibilities, understand what is expected of them, and act quickly. We aim to achieve a lot in the shortest time possible, Mugabowagahunde said. We have been working on a project to establish our headquarters at the provincial level. We have already saved over Rwf700 million for this project, he said of the project which is planned to cost over Rwf1.3 billion. Jean Bosco Ntibitura was elected RPF chairperson in Western Province. Ntibitura also serves as the Governor of the Western Province. Tito Rutaremara, a senior member of RPF-Inkotanyi who represented the party Secretary-General Wellars Gasamagera in the elections in the City of Kigali, called on leaders and cadres to have agency when they address issues affecting Rwandans. “A cadre understands the ideology of the party, analyses issues, and addresses them, he said. Rutaremara also called for increased efforts in addressing pertinent issues such as malnutrition among children.
