Atraco takes Kabagambe’s case to CAF

As Ssemwogerere goes AWOL 2009 Cecafa/Kagame Cup and MTN Peace Cup winners, Atraco Fc have lodged their case against midfielder Joseph Kabagambe with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Times Sport has learnt. The double cup winners want CAF to slap a ban on the Ugandan midfielder for breach of contract. Atraco vice president Issa Ngeze told this paper that they have lodged their case to the continental body, in which the club calls for the right winger not to be allowed to feature for any club until he resolves his contract issues with the taxi-men’s side. “Kabagambe breached the professional contract he had with Atraco, and we have forwarded our case to CAF through the local football body, Ferwafa,” Ngeze said yesterday. The former Ugandan international threw the Atraco camp into shock as when he signed for Sudan’s Al-Neel while with Atraco during this year’s Cecafa/Kagame club championship in Khartoum. However, the deal was stalled after Kabagambe admitted to forging a release letter from Atraco to join the oil-rich club. By the time it was proved that Kabagambe had forged the release letter, the former SC Villa player had already pocketed $10,000 as sign-on fee. He was later reported to have fled Khartoum to his native Uganda, having vowed never to return to Atraco. In a related development, Ugandan defender Tom Ssemwogerere has reportedly gone AWOL (Away Without Official Leave). In a shocking admission, Ngeze said yesterday that they have a clue on the whereabouts of Ssemwogerere, who the club vice president said is still under contract with Atraco. “Ssemwogerere went away without notifying any club administrator and we are set to make a decision on him,” Ngeze said. Ssemwogerere formed a formidable partnership with Ismail Nshutinamagara in Atraco’s central defence, guiding the taxi-men side to the league title last season. Nshutinamagara has since joined APR.
