There is no doubt about his mighty in the music industry. Neither has he failed to get the recognition he deserves. But Uwayezu Jacques, a.k.a Dr. Jacques has proved to one type of a ‘Nomad’ musician. Last year, the dreadlocked musician/producer split with his partner Farouk, whom he had formed with the music group “Abakimaze”. In the same year, Dr. Jacques also had to part ways with Ubuntu Studio, a place that had put him in the limelight as one of Rwanda’s best upcoming music producer. Like every other Nomad, he knows how to get to the green pastures. Maurix Music studio was the next alternative for the star. He did a lot with the studio and it’s more than appropriate to say that he helped market the studio; because of his name. While at Maurix Music studio, he was voted Best producer 2008, after producing songs of musicians like; Tom Close, upcoming Dance Hall group Urban Boys and Riderman among others. The New Times however discovered Dr. Jacques’s termination letter, dated 31/07/09, informing Dr. Jacques of his termination from work, and asking him to return the keys of the studio. We tried to reach him, to ask whether he received the letter but his phone has been constantly off, but his former boss though quite reserved said, “I had a contract with him and he kept on breaching most of the agreement. As a business person, I had no option apart from relieving him of his duties” However, a close source revealed to The New Times, that Dr. Jacques had for a long time planned to part with Maurix Music Studio. In another development, DJ Lil, whose real name is Ludovic Ngarambe, has taken up Dr. Jacques’s position at the studio. He formerly worked with Kisementi’s Pro Studio. Ends
