Makala Emmanuel Brown aka Emmy Brown is a young and upcoming Rwandan musician hitting the air waves at the moment. He was born in Tanzania-Rukwa southern Tanzania bordering Zambia in 1985. He started his career in music way back in 2001 when he was in senior one at Gahini secondary school. The humble beginning started with playing a guitar assisted by a British teacher who was teaching at there school. His breakthrough came in January this year when he collaborated with Nadson in ‘One way’, a single which talks about their life when still in Tanzania. He says the inspiration of making the song came from missing his friends in Rukwa - Tanzania. The song was recorded by Nicolas Mucyo a.k.a Nick and it enjoyed extensive air play on the local radio stations. Brown’s second single brought him from emotions of missing his friends to emotions of love. The song titled ‘Intambwe 1000’ meaning a thousand steps was released in May and it is a song that talks about a love gone sour and then has a farewell ending. The song’s video is one of the highly rated videos of Rwandan musicians. Brown is in the studio recording a new song titled ‘wandize’ (wait for me) which is being worked on by producer Nick and he promises the best is yet to come from him. He is also currently working on an album which will be produced in Dare salaam in December and will be out early next year. Apart from doing his music, Brown is also a BBA student at the School of Finance and Banking and says he plans to continue doing both singing and studying for as long as possible.
