Misconception about RWANDA. I'm saying this as a Rwandan content creator, because I won't stay silent while some people disrespect my country. I've received countless messages from people abroad saying my content inspired them to visit Rwanda, but now, some are telling me they've canceled Rwanda. Honestly, this is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard, and it makes me question a lot. How does someone decide to cancel an entire country based on hearsay? If you don't have enough information about something, why not take a few minutes to educate yourself, instead of relying on 15-second Instagram reels as your primary source of information? To those claiming that Rwanda is killing Congolese, let me ask you this: where have you ever seen a country that provides shelter, medical care, food, and basic needs to the very people it supposedly wants to harm? Just a few days ago, many Congolese fled to Rwanda following the fall of Goma, and they were received with nothing but love and care, including the Congolese army, because all Rwanda wants is peace. And yet, some people insist this is just politics!!! Tell me, which other country has done the same? This just proves how Rwanda intimidates many people simply because you've never seen a nation rise the way we have. You've never seen a country recover and develop so remarkably in just 30 years after experiencing one of the most inhumane tragedies in history. When Rwanda went through its darkest period, no one raised a voice to help us. But we rebuilt ourselves through the leadership of our President, the resilience of our people and the determination of our parents. And that is why we stand strong today, and we are confident that we will never go back to where we once were. Meanwhile, the leadership in the DR Congo, along with various militia groups and a cocktail of other forces, have been hunting down and killing their own Rwandophone citizens – people who have lived in the DR Congo for generations – simply because they speak Kinyarwanda). They were told to go back to Rwanda, even though DR Congo is the only home they've ever known. DR Congo is their home and yet, no one spoke up for them. Unfortunately, we live in a world that values noise more than humanity. For three years, I worked with organisations that assist refugees in Rwanda, mostly Congolese, some have been here for three decades. I personally listened to people testify about how they were forced out of their homes, how their own government turned against them, and how they were killed simply because of their identity. And now, out of nowhere, some people suddenly feel entitled to judge the one country that has given them safety and shelter? How ironic! So no, l'm not here to talk politics or educate those who refuse to see the truth. If you really care about humanity, then do your research and learn about what is really happening and why it's happening. But I will say one thing to those who claim they' canceled Rwanda... Rwanda is a beautiful land of a thousand hills and a million smiles. And some of you canceling it, won't change that. People say many things about Rwanda and Rwandans but they always forget two important facts; One, Rwandans are not beggars and two, we are not desperate for anything. In the words of our President, His Excellency Paul Kagame: We may be poor materially, but we are not poor spiritually and intellectually. We can't be made to dance around by those who think they are better... We are a small country, but we are not small people. We will not be led around like cows, we are not cows. Rwanda is not the cause of the problem, and even if they want to turn it into a fact, we will not accept it. It's apparent that for these people drawing reports of Rwanda, perception rather than the truth matters. And again, Our President His excellency Paul Kagame said: In the world we live in, facts don't matter, it is the perception that does... We want to be people who can deal with both. I will not stop speaking the truth because some don't want to hear it...it doesn't matter how many times you repeat lies about us, it doesn't make them the truth...we will not accept it. Rwanda will not accept to be told what to do by those who believe they are superior to Rwandans. So yes, we are a nation that loves and supports its leadership, a nation that believes in unity, resilience, and progress. Every day, we work together to build a better, brighter future of our nation, one that is anchored on development, inclusivity, and the well-being of every citizen. We are led by a government that places its people above all else, ensuring stability, growth, and opportunities for all. That's something many people may not be used to seeing, but in RWANDA, that's our reality. A reality shaped by hard work, visionary leadership, and a deep commitment to national pride. The list of our achievements and values could go on and on, but one thing remains clear: Rwanda is moving forward. And while some may choose to dwell in negativity and misconceptions. We refuse to be held back by such energy. And last but not least, if you refuse to see the truth about Rwanda, you might as well go ahead and unfollow me now because I won't stop using my platform to promote national pride, unity, and hope. Rwanda is thriving, and I will continue showcasing its beauty, resilience, and progress, because it only gets better from here. The writer is a proud Rwandan content creator
