KK Security in court The hearing of a case involving KK Security Company and its former employees over delayed arrears is set to start at Gasabo Court on 11th this month. About fifty six former employees who had been deployed to protect U.S. properties in Rwanda say the company retrenched them with an understanding that it would pay their terminal benefits. According to documents seen, KK security promised to pay all the guards, but it has now been three years and some guards have not been paid. Max Uwiragiye, the manager of KK Security Human Resources department says that the guards were asking for too much indemnity. Oxfam donates to widows On Wednesday 70 cows were given by British Oxfam association to widows association in Rukomo in Nyagatare district. Oxfam was represented by the minister of Gender and family promotion, Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya who said that the association is to develop the widows and live a better life. Oxfam had already given widows association four oxen for f arming. Students contribute to One Dollar Yesterday Ismail Bokanan, the executive secretary of Rwanda Diaspora Global Network appreciated Rwandan students, who study in Saudi Arabia and the Abakorana Murava cooperative for contributing for the One Dollar Campaign,Abakorana Murava is a cooperative that brings together money changers in Kigali City. Students contributed 100,000 francs whereas Abakorana Murava contributed US$4100. WB President to visit World Bank Group President Robert B. Zoellick will next week begin a three-nation African tour to encourage investor and donor support to help the world’s poorest continent cope with the global economic crisis. During visits to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Uganda, Zoellick will see up-close some of the damage the financial crisis has wrought on these three countries of Africa’s Great Lakes region. Ahead of his trip, the World Bank president encouraged investors to take advantage of investment opportunities that continue to beckon from Africa, despite the crisis. Ends
