Youth, Culture and Sports Minister Joseph Habineza will take to the greens in the two-day Mitzig Open golf tournament that tees off this morning at Kigali Golf Club. The minister together with Bralirwa’s managing director Door Plantenga are set to tee-off first. However, it is not the first time that Habineza displays his golfing skills.According to the club captain Rajan Tiwari, Habineza has always been part of the golfing fraternity when time is on his side.“He has been involved in a number of competitions at the club and so it will be an honor to have him back and competing in this particular event,” Rajan said. With stroke-play as the mode of play, close to 70 golfers are expected to challenge for the event’s top honors. After a good run this year’s Thierry Ntaganda is one of the favorites for the two-day tournament. Golfers are expected to approach the 36-hole event with great concern because it serves as a build-up to this year’s Rwanda Open. The annual event is the biggest on the club’s calendar and the only one open to amateur and professional golfers and it attracts participants from across the East African regionEnds
