RWANDA’S football federation, Ferwafa has described the 2008/09 season a success. The season wrapped up on Saturday when Atraco sealed a deserved double after winning this year’s MTN Peace Cup.The taxi-men side battled to a 1-0 win over Mukura to put their shock league gloom at rest. Atraco, who were in the driving seat of the league for most parts of the campaign lost the title of the final day after being held to a goalless draw against Marines. The result meant that APR’s 2-0 win over Mukura was just enough to secure the army side a tenth league title. After the final day drama, Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa expressed his satisfaction with the competitive nature of the league. “It was a fantastic campaign with an exciting climax and we look forward to something similar next season,” “We were also pleased with the discipline exhibited by the clubs,” he added. “The way Mukura and Atraco approached the Peace Cup final is testament of how far the level of football has gone.” Ends
