Rwandan exporters look to increase market in Nordic countries

A three-day exhibition began on Thursday, November 3 in Stockholm, Sweden, where Rwandan exporters are showcasing products such as coffee, tea, fresh fruits and handcrafts, in a bid to increase their export volumes in the Nordic countries. Other products being showcased include chilli and vegetables grown in Rwanda. Organised by the Rwandan embassy in Sweden and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the Made in Rwanda exhibition targets some 200 importers and diaspora from the Nordic countries. Speaking at the event opening, Alfred Rukeribuga, the first secretary at the Rwandan embassy, said the exhibition had the potential to boost the market for Rwandan produce in the region. “This exhibition has been organised to promote sales of value-added Rwandan products in the Nordic market by increasing their awareness as well as making efforts to secure shelf space for them in major selling outlets. Through this, we hope to increase the demand for Rwandan products in the long-term,” Rukeribuga said. Business-to-business (B2B) meetings are also taking place at the margins, with Rwandan exporters negotiating future business partnerships with Nordic businesses. The made in Rwanda exhibition will close on Saturday.
